DeWane Stone is an Atlanta based photographer who has a talent for seeing things that many people may witness, but not actually notice. His photographs exemplify “the art of the less than obvious.” He emphasizes shapes, geometry, cityscapes, and landscapes in his work.
On a solo trip to Cozumel in 1989, DeWane took a shot of the pyramid in Chichen Itza that made him realize photography was his calling. That ignited an interest for him that has never faded. He embraced photography then, and has been conjuring that magic ever since.

While living in Colorado, he sold his first piece to a Colorado Springs art collector in 1996. He had a picture selected for the inaugural Atlanta Photographic Group Airport show at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in October of 2010. DeWane curated a series of his own work for permanent display at an Atlanta office suite. His images have been displayed in several club shows throughout Atlanta and Roswell.
DeWane has been an active member of several photography clubs since moving to Atlanta in 1999. He started a local photography club with his co-workers in 2005. For a few years, as part of the leadership team for the Decatur Digital Photography Meetup, he helped coordinate monthly field trips, and instructed and mentored beginner photographers.
In 2023, DeWane stepped away from a corporate career in Software Engineering to focus on his fine art photography. He continues seeking out the “less than obvious” and is grateful to share his art with you.
